Spotlighting What Matters Most to You™

*****************************************************************************

I’m super excited!

Tonight is Community Stages’ first OFFICIAL benefit for The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation.  As you may now, this organization is CS’ 2011 Community Spotlight.  We are working on behalf of them to raise awareness and funds for these bone marrow failure diseases.

Severe Aplastic Anemia wasn’t something I’d ever heard of until two years ago, when a childhood friend’s son was diagnosed with it.  AJ Garreffi was 9 years old when his family learned that he had a rare, acquired and often fatal disease.  Without a bone marrow match, AJ has been successfully fighting SAA through an intense drug therapy.  Now in remission, he is doing great, yet being monitored closely.  When Community Stages interviewed AJ and his family, back in October, he told us “a cold can’t kill you, but when your a kid with Aplastic Anemia it can.”  He’s right, this disease makes fighting infections nearly impossible and others often die from bleeding.

Come out tonight as we honor AJ and help raise awareness and funds for this important cause.  You’ll learn how you can help while having a great time rocking out with Acoustic ’80s!

Acoustic ’80s is the fantastic duo of Michael Burke and Jason Hare.  They’ll be singing and playing all our favorite 80s dance tunes!  They are a blast.  Don’t take my word for it! Come see and hear for yourself.

We’ll see you there.
